Why Take a Pregnancy Test at Cove Care?

What Happens at the Appointment?
You will provide a urine sample for the pregnancy test. Once the test is complete, a registered nurse will review the result with you and explain whether additional testing or medical follow-up may be appropriate.
There is also time to ask questions about the result itself. You do not need to arrive knowing what you would do if the test is positive.
What Does the Result Mean?
Positive Result
A positive result means hCG was detected in your urine and usually indicates pregnancy. You will receive documentation of the result and can discuss what additional medical information may be available.
Negative Result
A negative result means hCG was not detected. If the test may have been taken too early, the nurse can explain whether you should take another test and when to take it. If your period remains absent after a few weeks or other symptoms continue, follow-up with another healthcare provider may be recommended.
Why Is a Positive Result Only One Piece?
A urine test can tell you whether hCG was detected. It cannot create an image of the pregnancy or evaluate the pregnancy itself.
